New Procedures to Replace Lost or Stolen Laser Visas
November 29, 2005 - A growing number of lost and stolen Laser Visas, also known as Border Crossing Cards, are being used illegally. As part of our efforts to combat fraud and make travel to the United States easier for legitimate visitors, anyone whose Laser Visa has been lost or stolen may seek a replacement by applying for an interview at any U.S. consulate in Mexico. We will replace lost or stolen Laser Visas with a traditional-in-appearance sticker visa that will be placed into the visitor’s passport.(complete text)

Passports and Citizenship Unit Will be Temporarily Closed
October 6, 2005 - The Passports and Citizenship Unit of the Embassy of the United States of America in Mexico City will be closed for all routine services including notarials, from October 10 to 14, 2005, for an American holiday and for an office construction project. Scorching Temperatures in Arizona Prompt Rescue Efforts

Homeland Security Announces Second Year of Interior Repatriation Program
Beginning Friday, June 10, 2005, illegal aliens from Mexico may volunteer to be returned home via charter aircraft from Tucson, Arizona to Mexico City. Upon arrival in Mexico, bus transportation will be provided to a location near their final destination.

U.S. Government Donates $865,000 in Equipment for Fight Against Tuberculosis
March 15, 2005 - Attending the World Tuberculosis Day event at the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases in Tlalpan, Mexico City, Ambassador Garza presented $865,000 dollars in computers and laboratory equipment as well as vehicles to Health Minister Dr. Julio Frenk. Ambassador Garza shows how new technology reduces pollution
January 24th, 2005.- The Ambassador took part in a “white glove” test to demonstrate that when a special filter device is fitted to a diesel bus the particles in the exhaust are reduced by over 90 percent.
