ADDITIONAL CODE ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE MADE BY THE CABLE
INSTALLATION & DATABASE MANAGERS (CI/DM). ADJUSTMENTS WILL BE MADE ONCE
YOUR FORM IS TURNED IN.

COLUMN 1... CC = CABLE CODE / CABLE TYPE -
USE: TABLE 1
- Current assigned values are given in Table 1.
- Locate the cable type on table 1 and assign the two (2) letter
code.
- (new assignments are made by the cable installation/database
managers.)
- The CABLE TYPE/CABLE NUMBER consists of six (6) characters. The
CABLE TYPE is the first two (2) characters of the serial number on the
labels.
COLUMN 2... N = CABLE NUMBER
- ASSIGNED BY THE CABLE DATABASE MANAGER (CDM).
- This is the last four (4) characters of the serial numbers as seen
on the label.
- This second portion of the serial number is assigned consecutively
for each CABLE TYPE in the data base.
COLUMNS 3 & 4...
ORIGIN / DESTINATION - USE: TABLE 2
- BOTH ARE ASSIGNED BY THE REQUESTER.
- EXAMPLES ARE SUPPLIED IN TABLE 2
- Origin (13 Characters maximum) - Destination (10
Characters maximum). The number of characters is restricted, due to label size,
to the above maximum values.
- CHOICES TO CONSIDER:
- If the cable run is from relay rack to relay rack the ORIGIN will be
the lower rack number of the two.
- If the cable run is from relay rack to tunnel the ORIGIN will be the
relay rack.
- If the cable run is from tunnel to tunnel the ORIGIN will be the
lower quad number.
- Additionally a particular power supply may be designated as the
ORIGIN or DESTINATION.
- In the case of power supply to power supply cabling, an individual
choice must be made for each occurrence.
COLUMN 5... FUNCTION (6 Characters
maximum). One may use less than 6 characters, but never more.

- The Function Code is made up / created by the requester. It should
be descriptive of the cable function and should mean something to the person in
charge of the system.
COLUMN 6... LENGTH (ft)
- NO TABLE
- Simply jot down the length of each specific cable in feet.
COLUMN 7... SERVICE BUILDINGS FOR THE
CABLE DATABASE - USE: TABLE 5
- Choose the respective code for the building description which best
describes the area.
- This table is incomplete. Assignments will be made as we go.
- If a specific area is not on the list, type/write out a message in
the cell or on the email and a code will be assigned by the DBM.

8... SYSTEM DESIGNATORS - USE: TABLE

- On Table 3 locate the SYSTEM to which the cable is assigned and jot
down the respective code from the left hand column.
- For labeling purposes this is the second character of a two (2)
letter string.
- (The first character represents the MACHINE (BEAM LINE) in which the
cable will be installed.)
COLUMN 9... MACHINE / BEAM LINE DESIGNATORS -
USE: TABLE 4
- On Table 4 locate the MACHINE / BEAM LINE to which the cable is
assigned and jot down the respective code from the left hand column.
- For labeling purposes this is a two (2) letter string, the first
character representing the MACHINE (BEAM LINE) where the cable will be
installed, and the second character representing the SYSTEM to which the cable
is assigned.
COLUMN 10... Type in your name.
COLUMN 11 & 12...
For Database Manager only ... (date data is entered / the data entry
person's name)
NOTE: If the CABLE INSTALLATION MANAGER is required to terminate
the cables, the requester will be required to also supply the ORIGIN and
DESTINATION TERMINATION TYPE.
NOTE: The maximum number of characters allowed for each
field of the cable label will be:
