Balint Joo

Lattice QCD and Nuclear Physics from Jaguar

Balint Joo was born in Debrecen, Hungary in 1975, and moved to Scotland in 1987. He obtained his Ph.D in Theoretical Physics in 2000. Since then he has worked on Lattice QCD algorithms and software development through postdoctoral positions at the University of Kentucky, Columbia University and Edinburgh University.  He was a member of the design team for the QCDOC supercomputer. Balint moved to the Jefferson Lab in Newport News, Virginia as staff computer scientist in 2005, where he develops lattice QCD software and algorithms. Balint is a user of the NCCS Jaguar facility at ORNL through the DOE INCITE initiative.
