Toichi Sakata

RIKEN

Born in Osaka, Japan in 1948. After graduating from University of Tokyo in 1972, he received Master of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) from University of Tokyo in 1974 when he joined STA of Japanese Government (GOJ). Then, under the GOJ Fellowship Program, he studied at Graduate School of Management, Cornell University and received MBA in 1979. Some of his career in GOJ is as follows: Director of Planning Division, Science and Technology Policy, STA, Deputy Director-General of Research Promotion Bureau, MEXT and Director-General of Research and Development Bureau, MEXT. He is now in charge of the next generation supercomputer project as Executive Director of RIKEN.
