This is the Top of the Page Icon Temperature / Dewpoint

1. At Burlington, VT the high temperature hit 98 degrees F. on September 9, 2002. This broke the old daily record of 90 set in 1959. This also is a new all time September high temperature, the old record was 95 degrees set in 1931.

2. At Montipelier, VT the high temperature hit 92 degrees F. on September 9, 2002. This broke the old daily record of 87 set in 2001. This also is a new all time September high temperature, the old record was 91 degrees set in 1960.

3. At Mt. Mansfield, VT the high temperature hit 79 degrees F. on September 9, 2002. This broke the old daily record of 77 set in 1959. This also is a new all time September high temperature, the old record was 78 degrees set in 1999.

4. The high temperature at Blue Hill, MA on September 9, 2002 was 91 degrees. This broke the old record of 89 degrees set in 1943 and 1971. This was also the 23rd day in 2002 with a temperature of 90 or higher which broke the old record of 22 days set in 1949. Weather record for the station began in 1885.

5. September 2002 was a hot month in north central California, the city office at Sacramento recorded 11 days of 100 degree F. temperatures or higher. The previous record was 8 days set in 1984 and 1888. Also, 7 of those days were consecutive days which was a new record. The old record for consecutive days was 6 set in 1944 and three prior years.

6. The summer of 2002 was the warmest on record at Marquette, Michigan. The mean summer temperature was 67.1 degrees F. observed from June 21 through September 20th, 2001. This broke the old summer average of 66.4 degrees F. set in 1983.

7. The four month summer period (June-September 2002) was the hottest ever measured in Phoenix, AZ. The average temperature was 93.6 degrees F., the previous record was 93.4 degrees set in 1981. The three month June-August 2002 period tied 1981 as the hottest ever with a mean temperature of 94.8 degrees. The year as of October 1st, 2002 had 28 days with a maximum temperature of 110 or higher. the ties the record set in 1979. the average number of days is ten.

1. On September 15, 2002 at the NWS office at Corpus Christie Intl AP, TX 2.53 inches of rain fell. This broke the daily record and was also the greatest 24-hour rainfall total this year.

2. September, 2002 was the driest September on record for Melbourne, FL. Reports from the International Airport were 1.62 inches of rainfall. This broke the previous driest September record of 1.80 inches set in 1972.

3. At Kahlului Airport, Honolulu, HI zero rainfall fell in the month of September making it the driest September on record. The previous record was set in 1972 at 0.02 inches, normal rainfall amount is 0.35 inches.
