By gender, the number of males arrested in 2007 in nonmetropolitan counties decreased 4.1 percent when compared with 2006 data. The number of males under age 18 arrested fell 6.7 percent.
The number of females arrested in nonmetropolitan counties declined 3.4 percent; arrests of juveniles (under 18 years of age) who were female decreased 6.3 percent from the 2006 figures.
In nonmetropolitan counties, the number of males arrested for violent crimes decreased 4.8 percent, and the number of males under 18 years old arrested for violent crimes declined 4.3 percent.
Of the violent crime offenses, the number of females arrested in nonmetropolitan counties decreased 5.6 percent. The number of females under 18 years old arrested in nonmetropolitan counties for violent crimes dropped 18.6 percent.
When compared with 2006 data, in 2007, arrests of males for property crime decreased 4.7 percent in nonmetropolitan counties. Arrests of males under 18 years old for property crime decreased 6.0 percent.
Of the property crime offenses, arrests of females declined 3.2 percent in nonmetropolitan counties. In addition, arrests of females under 18 years old decreased 1.4 percent.
