The US Department of Education intends to issue a sole source award to Gretch-Ken Industries for the purchase of three (3) Portable Acoustic Booths (PABs). The US Department of Education Office of Management, Security Services (OM/SS) is tasked with providing a secure classified means of communication in multiple, alternate locations in conjunction with the Federal Government and the Department of Education COOP requirements. At present the Department of Education has requirements for three (3) PAB enclosures, two (2) each 8' x 8' x 8' single room enclosures and one (1) custom three-room enclosure with the external dimensions of 20'1" x 50'2" x 10' constructed in accordance with the Department of State specialized design requirements. The two similar enclosures will be located in regional facilities and serve as alternate COOP communications sites. The custom three-room enclosure will be located in the Washington Capital Region and be utilized as an Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Changes in the COOP requirements may require future purchases of the same PAB structures. Gretch-ken Industries Inc. PABs are a patented product manufactured in accordance with the State Department specific design requirements, and as such are not available on the open market for non-Government sales. Gretch-Ken Industries Inc. has been granted exclusive production rights by both the US Department of State and the US Secret Service to manufacture PABs in support of Federal Government clients. The anticipated award on a sole source basis is in accordance with FAR subpart 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.
