  • In 2006, the number of males arrested increased 2.6 percent, and the number of females arrested rose 7.7 percent compared with figures from 2002.
  • For juveniles (persons under age 18), the number of males arrested was down 3.1 percent, and the number of females arrested declined 2.8 percent.
  • In the 5-year trend, the number of males arrested for violent crimes increased marginally (0.4 percent), and the number of females arrested for these offenses rose 3.7 percent.
  • For both genders, the number of juveniles arrested for violent crimes increased, 8.7 percent for males and 2.7 percent for females, in 2006 when compared with 2002 data.
  • The number of males arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter rose 4.5 percent, and for females, the number of arrests rose 4.2 percent.
  • For juveniles, the number of males arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter increased 25.8 percent, but the number of females arrested for this offense decreased 45.1 percent.
  • The 5-year trend indicated that the number of males arrested for property crimes declined 6.5 percent and for females, the number of arrests increased 4.2 percent.
