In the Nation’s cities during 2007, 67.3 percent of all persons arrested were white, 30.5 percent were black, and the remainder were of other races.
In 2007, 55.8 percent of the persons arrested for violent crime and 66.6 percent of the persons arrested for property crime were white.
Whites made up 59.7 percent of all people arrested for forcible rape and 60.9 percent of all persons arrested for aggravated assault.
Blacks made up 56.0 percent of all people arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter and 57.5 percent of all persons arrested for robbery.
Among all juveniles (under 18 years of age) arrested, 66.2 percent were white.
More blacks under 18 years of age were arrested for violent crime (52.5 percent of all juveniles arrested), while whites of the same age accounted for more arrests for property crime (65.3 percent of all juveniles arrested).
Among adults (18 years of age and older), more whites were arrested in the Nation’s cities for both violent and property crimes, 57.9 percent and 67.1 percent, respectively.
