A government affiliated, well-established newspaper traces back to 1929 during the Nationalist Party rule of China. It is a good source of research material because of its lengthy coverage and its wide-range of information. For back issues one can search through http://www.library.yale.edu.eastasian/newsarc.htm.

Taiwan's leading English-language newspaper, specializes in local news in Taiwan and the Pacific Asia. The site reprints selected reports from the print version and from other international media. Archived since September 2001, registration required.

China Times  (http://www.chinatimes.com.tw)
It provides daily news of Taiwan and international news. It special features includes current information on science and technology developments in Taiwan.

This is the first grass root Taiwanese online community network. The main focus of the community includes social movement, community movement, ecological and environmental movement, minority, literature and culture. It also publishes three electronic newsletters. The articles offer first hand observations on Taiwan society and culture.

The official site has been offering information through the Internet since 1995. It is responsible for the planning, development, maintenance and promotion of the non-Chinese Web sites, featuring 12 different languages, including Chinese (both traditional and simplified characters), English, Spanish, German, French, and Russian. The GIO actively promotes these sites - which collate official statements, GIO publications, and information about Taiwan - to enhance the international community's understanding of Taiwan. The GIO serves as a source of news and information about Taiwan. Includes economic conditions, current news, political issues, culture, envirnoment, and more. Provides access to Free China Review, an online news magazine, and other GIO periodicals. Also link to yearbooks from 1999 on.

This website provides free access to current news and archival articles up to three months. Articles are obtained from various independent sources which makes it a good research tool. It has easy access to hart to obtain articles.

Taiwan Trade Media - China Economic News Service  (http://www.cens.com)
The largest business news services in Taiwan. The site provides a wealth of information from fact sheet to trade show lists, from company directories to weekly business news about Taiwan.
