ISO9001 in the Geophysical Instruments and Measurements Group

25, Feb 2000

MISSION:  The Geophysical Instruments and Measurements Group studies the atmosphere-ocean-land-ice interactions through the use of direct and remote sensing techniques.  The field programs are designed to further our understanding of the global climate feedback mechanisms and how they influence the global climate change processes. The final products from our measurement programs are data, and our goal is to provide data of the highest caliber even in the most extreme conditions.

Quality Policy: The goal in all quality assurance efforts is to assure the highest reliability, as expressed by either MTBF, failure rate, or data availability, and to do this with minimal supervision, lowest cost, and lowest stress or frustration to our team members.

Quality organization:
GIM is divided between science activities and engineering development. The engineering team is responsible for developing instrumentation, deploying them, assuring they are in good working order, and then providing quality data for scientific analysis and quality confirmation.
