Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is time for the IGS 2001 Technical Report process to begin, and
hopefully everyone can contribute in a timely manner this year. By
now you should have received the IGS Strategic Plan 2002-2007, and
the IGS 2000 Annual Report, as well as an update on the IGS Directory
which we hope to finalize and make available over the next two months.
The 2000 TR is available in PDF format on the IGS website under publications:

(apologies - this will be re-formatted into smaller sections rather
than the current huge pdf file ....)
We plan to print hardcopies as soon as possible given our publication
budget. One advantage of the website/PDF file is that a number of
the plots and figures are in color, while the printed version will be
in black and white.
Annual/Technical Reports for 2001
--------------------------------------------
This year the IGS Annual Report Series will continue with the
established format of two volumes -- the summary Annual Report of
about 30 pages, and the in-depth Technical Report with ~250 pages.
This message solicits your input for the 2001 IGS Technical Report
(TR). The TR is an in-depth report that documents the key technical
developments and general status of ALL IGS components. It is
targeted to 'expert' users and IGS components, but freely available
to anyone, and we continue to distribute to many libraries on request.
The Central Bureau will continue to manage the production of the
volume. The IGS TR will be handled in parallel with the Annual Report
(AR), but we are looking to the various representatives on the
governing board to help 'herd' the contributors so I don't feel like
such a 'nag'.

annual report for 2001 please REPORT ONLY FOR THAT YEAR -- however,
if you did not submit last year, you may prepare a report covering
both years.

Authors not listed below should feel free to contribute if
appropriate by following the guidelines. If a different author than
listed below will be contributing for your organization, please

INSTRUCTIONS AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
We will refine/clarify details for submitting files for the 2001
Technical Reports in the very near future - there is a very good
chance that the format and submission process will change. Our editor
Ken Gowey will
continue working with us this year and deserves many thanks for
pulling all of these contributions together.
Please remember that all documents will be combined into a single
styled volume in the standard IGS format. Text files with separate
graphics are greatly appreciated.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated (in advance) and we look
forward to working with you on this project. We can only meet this
