INVENTORY AND MONITORING

A baseline inventory of terrestrial vertebrate species was conducted within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Marin County, California between 1990-1997. The primary objectives of this inventory were to (1) develop standardized and repeatable inventory and monitoring protocols for terrestrial vertebrates, (2) establish a system of permanent study plots at which long-term ecological monitoring could be repeated over time, and (3) collect baseline data on the occurrence and abundance of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians within the park.
