The Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy Thanks the Korean People for Hurricane Katrina Support

Thank you for all of your expressions of condolences and sympathy which we at the U.S. Embassy have received since the Hurricane Katrina tragedy struck New Orleans and other areas of the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The United States Government deeply appreciates the expression of sympathy President Roh Moo-hyun extended to President Bush. We also appreciate the many endeavors made by both the Korean government and non-governmental organizations in Korea to contribute to the relief effort. Your kind comments and actions demonstrate that our two countries are partners through good times and bad.

[Sept. 22] Professor Roh Jung Hyun of Korea Fulbright Foundation makes a donation for Hurricane Katrina victims.

[Sept. 15] Korean American Association contributes to the relief effort to help Hurricane Katrina victims.

[Sept 14] On September 14, Mrs. LEE Hwa Il (left), President of New Seoul Hotel (Best Western), and her daughter Kristina Yim (right) delivered to Charge d'Affaires Mark C. Minton their contribution to help relieve Hurricane Katrina victims. Having visited Louisiana in the past, Mrs. Lee and her daughter expressed their sympathy for the victims of the hurricane.

[Sept. 13] Senior representatives of Korean NGOs, Young Freedom Builders (YFB) and Free Youth United (FYU), meet with A/DCM Joseph Yun and other Embassy representatives to make a donation and discuss ways to contribute further to the relief effort for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

[Sept. 8] Ehwa Unit makes a donation for Hurricane Katrina victims to the Korean Red Cross through Embassy Seoul.
