Issue: To develop and test a nationwide database with information about material on HIV/AIDS an other associated subjects, with reference to the physical whereabouts of the materials. Great importance has been attached to the use of an easily accessible edb language. Project: Denmark is hopelessly behind in the field of information technology, when it comes to the storage of and searching for information about HIV/AIDS. In 1988 the Danish National Board of Health and the County of Funen launched a project, the aim of which was to collect a database with information about all published Danish AIDS-information material. The project came to nothing, however, because it had too many limitations attached. This new project, which was launched in 1994, uses a window-based database program, which can be updated centrally, based on an index designed and developed by AIDS-INFO/FYN. It can also be updated by the end-user, with his or her own collection of information. The database contains text, sound, graphics and video-clips.Database updates will be distributed via CD-rom/disc or Internet. The programme will be presented in a "run-time" module. Lessons Learned: The need of easily access to various types of information, is an ongrowing issue. Using the electronic media, we can be assured to challenge the flow of information, that each one of us have to choose between.
