  • The number of persons arrested nationwide increased 3.4 percent in 2005 when compared with the number arrested in 2001. The number of juveniles arrested was down 6.0 percent, but the number of adults arrested was up 5.3 percent in the 5-year trend.
  • The number of persons arrested for violent crimes decreased 0.5 percent in the 5-year period.
  • For property crime, the number of persons arrested in 2005 was up 1.0 percent from the 2001 figure. The number of juveniles arrested for these offenses increased 8.4 percent in the trend.
  • In 2005, the number of persons arrested for weapons violations were up 19.7 percent from 2001 data.
  • Overall, the number of persons arrested for drug abuse violations was up 15.6 percent; the number of adults arrested for these crimes increased 18.8 percent in the 5-year trend.
