Center.  It is a unique position within the Federal Highway
Administration where they are looking for an Environmental Health
Analyst to provide guidance on public health issues.  

Position Description:
The incumbent serves as national technical authority and  
 agency leader on the health implications of transportation-related
pollution, 
 providing advice to Federal, State and local agencies, metropolitan
planning  
 organizations and transportation associations.  Responsibilities
include      
 development of national policies for federal transportation planning
and      
 funding programs, and initiation and management of research projects
to       
 develop/apply new assessment methods and provide quantitative
analyses,       
 including statistics, examination of scientific assumptions, and
development  
 of conclusions about relative risk.  Effective communication skills
are       
 required to explain, information on health implications to a lay
audience;    
 lead discussions and present findings at national technical symposia
and      
 conferences; and, establish collaborative working
relationships/partnerships  
 between transportation and health officials on transportation-health
related  
 research. The incumbent will make judgments surrounding the limits of
the     
 scientific information, identify areas of research, and make
determinations on
 the necessity of Federal intervention.
