Abstract	The purpose of this work has been to calculate the total amount of freight transportation initiated by the activity in a Norwegian production sector. This involves two 'levels' of transportation activity. The first level, called direct transportation, is transportation that is executed or paid for by the production sector itself. The second level, called indirect transportation, is executed or paid for by suppliers of intermediate goods to the production sector and their suppliers.
