Abstract This article briefly describes operational features of four different projects currently in use in the San Francisco Bay Area: (1) A contra flow bus lane; (2) A part-time bus lane in the same direction and unseparated from normal traffic; (3) A bus-carpool lane also in the same direction and unseparated from normal traffic; and (4) Preferential access to metered freeway.
