Summary

The present-day observed change in sea level is the sum of several factors, including the continuing readjustment of the crust to the past redistribution of the surface ice-water load and any present-day melting of the Antarctic ice sheet. Constraints can be provided on both of these contributions by measuring the magnitude of the crustal rebound using the Global Positioning System. ... View entire text

Access Constraints

The full GPS dataset will be available to the general public after 5 year embargo period beginning January 12, 1998.

Currently 1998-2002 data are available.

GPS Data may be made available before this time under special arrangements. Diagnostic data available now from the url given below.

The data have been gzipped and hatanaka compressed. Un-gzipping the files will convert them to readable ascii files.

Use Constraints

Data cannot be used by other parties for the purposes of estimating velocities of the GPS sites.

Technical contact must be contacted before using this data.
