Dallas, TX - Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson today held a “Thank You” reception in Dallas in order to personally thank and commend all those North Texans who have aided in the relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina.
“The North Texas community has emerged as a leader when it comes to relief efforts following Katrina,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “World renowned Texas Hospitality has lived up to its reputation and the spirit of the North Texas community is strong and kind.”
Those in attendance at today’s reception, which was held in Congresswoman Johnson’s Dallas office included officials with the City of Dallas, Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Dallas area Red Cross, Dallas Fire and Rescue/EMS, FEMA, Health and Human Services (HHS) and Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
“The City of Dallas and the surrounding areas have served as models of compassion, generosity and leadership,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “So many sectors have given of their time and resources to help those in need, including city and county administrations, transit agencies, faith-based institutions, educational institutions, private and no-profit sector entities and regular citizens. They have all answered humanity’s greatest call.”
