Interagency Fire Use Module Operations Guide

The National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) has approved the Interagency Fire Use Module Operations Guide. The Guide can be found and downloaded from the NWCG publications website at: http://www.nwcg.gov/pms/pubs/pubs317/PMS-317.pdf. This Guide replaces all previous direction concerning the use and management of Fire Use Modules; please use this document as current guidance. This Guide will remain in effect until revised or rescinded.

The Interagency Fire Use Module Operations Guide provides standards for the operations of all Fire Use Modules (FUM). These standards will be used by staff, supervisors, specialists, and technicians for planning, administering, and conducting FUM operations. These standards are to be used as a measure of FUM qualifications, capabilities, and expected performance.

Agencies may choose for their own fire use module programs more restrictive standards and policy direction, but must adhere to the minimums described in the Guide.
