The latest version of the gemvis software is now available for anonymous ftp
from the NCEP server at ftp.ncep.noaa.gov.  Please cd to /pub/hpc and get
the
compressed tar file named gemvis.tar.Z.  Uncompress the file, and untar it.
There is a README file describing the installation procedure, with which you
are already familiar.  This latest version supports the depth vertical
coordinate which allows gemvis to handle oceanographic data.

This version of GEMVIS has not been linked with any version of vis5d higher
than 4.2.  Linking to a later version of vis5d may result in link time or
execution time errors because of changes to vis5d software libraries.  I
have
moved on to another position here at NCEP; so, I no longer maintain the
gemvis
code.  It is offered as is.  Please feel free to modify it at will and share
changes with other users to perpetuate the utility of this software.
