WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week

The U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem is seeking an individual for the position of Security Guard in the Local Guard Program Office.


BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Incumbent performs guard service to safeguard U.S. Government personnel and property. Duties include either walking or stationary post, performed on a rotating shift basis. Services are required at any time of day or night, weekends or holidays, at any USG owned or leased facility within the municipality of Jerusalem.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

  1. Completion of Secondary School is required
  2. At least one year of police, military or security experience is required
  3. Level III (good working knowledge) of English and Hebrew are required
  4. Must be familiar with general and post specific guard orders, as well as local laws pertaining to traffic, crowd, and riot control
  5. Must be able to write clear and concise incident reports
  6. Must be able to work on a shift basis with minimal flexibility in the work schedule.

SELECTION PROCESS:

When equally qualified, Eligible Family Members and U.S. Veterans will be given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate address the required qualifications above in the application.


ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy
  2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply
  3. EFMs who currently hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of that appointment
  4. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule
  5. Candidates are subject to testing for language, computer or other position related skills
