I was wondering can the space telescope(Hubble)be used to take picture of other planets, like Mars, Venus, etc., in more details than the satelites can? I mean, it can take pictures of distance galaxies and stars forming very clearly million, billions of miles away (which are probably moving objects, i.e. the cloud-like structure?). If it could take pictures that far, wouldn't it be cheaper to just point the telescope towards a planet in our solar system and survey it that way, intead of sending millions of dollars worth of satelites (satellites?)into its orbit? Thanks for your time.

It was very interesting, to see the complete SM3B-Mission on the internet! Now I see NASA Television, with the landing of Columbia. It was a good experience to see and hear the fotos, videos and audios in your gallery section. But for the next mission there should be more of them and also longer and in broadband-quality. Here from Germany, at 8pm to 0am (GMT+1), the downloadrate was not the best - but from 8am to 12am (GMT+1) it was at 45 kBit/s. So for next missions, you should also have bigger backbones for your webservers. But also with this little problems, it was realy fantastic! P.S.: Sorry, for my bad english, my german is better.

I am very interested in the hubble telescope because of all the possibilities it holds out for the unknown i believe the universe is vast and we are only looking at space in one dimension i feel strongly that when we develope the technology to travel at the speed of light man would have arrived at his space in time right now we are at the foot of the mountain and may becomputer technology we hold the secret to how much we achieve in this lifetime may be we should pay more attention to quantum physic and magnetism .

Pride and Joy is the feeling my family shares as we watch the Shuttle Crew and Ground Control work to update the Hubble Space Telescope. I was on the workforce that built that very piece of equipment! Lockheed, Bldg. 104, Moffett Field, 1984. She was built to last, and she has! Watching you all work on the same modules we built and installed is really exciting and almost brings tears to my eyes! The electronic boxes were not cutting edge technology, but made to last several years. ( Now you can buy some of that stuff off the shelf! ha! ) (Was the CCU modified/replaced when the new Solar Array was installed?) I'm amazed at the dexterity of the astronauts when changing out the connectors; with those big gloves! How do you keep from swearing? We are so Proud of you all, and the teamwork you show is truly a lesson to the world about American " Can-Do " spirit! All our Best wishes, and Thank You for keeping the very useful and necessary Hubble Telescope ' up and running '. Sincerely, Bill House, Retired; LMSC

Now that the Hubble has advanced instruments, do you think we'll be able to see ino a galaxy far, far away, from long, long ago??? And if yes, will we be able to, in some way, help the Rebel Alliance in their rebellion against the Empire? Jedi training might be a good investment for the next generation of astronauts.

I think astronomy is really cool. You could ask me almost anything about space and I would know the answer. I have one question, though. I have read a lot and some of my books say that there is a planet X. Have you found out if there really is one or if we are not sure yet? I always believed that there was a planet X and that there were other solar systems in all of the other galaxies. I know there are thousands of galaxies and I believe that there is a solar system in every single one. Do you?

I have trouble comprehending how the Hubble and the shuttle can come together and have the telescope placed on the dock of the shuttle. At a speed of 17,500 mph, it seems impossible to me. the same holds true for space walks. At this speed how do the astronauts keep tethered to the schuttle? I am a teacher of high school students and we talk about this and I would like to have your expert explaination for me to pass on to my classes Also, I would like to have a hard copy of the Hubble Telescope's orbit around the Earth to share with my studedents.

I understand there has been a problem with the cooling system with one of two components of the cooling system working properly. Naturally, one needs to more than that to make an educated analysis. However, it might be stated in some cases where two components to one system, in this case, it is stated, a two component designed cooling system circuit, it is stated, to cool the electronics system, may involve examining first if, for example, according to all the possible logical reasons for such a system functioning on half power, may involve analysis which indicates that: certain electrical/ electronic ciruit functions are only possible if the entire ciruit itself is completely connected and that the coolant system may be good hardware but have been exposed to a disconnection or an imprecise electrical value load, such as voltage, amperage or ohmage, for instance. The location of the two coolant component system parts or the thermal insulation on the parts of the system, may indicate the parts are functioning when they are not if the electronic parts themselves are designed to shut off due to a method of measuring electrical values such as electrical resistance in ohms by means of the temperature of the component part, a method of nonmeter electrical value measurements which was introduced many years past, I believe, which may be responsible for significant problems in electronic circuits, that is, to measure electrical values inferentially based on material design and material-part temperatures as opposed to standard contact point/ electronic (electrical) meter reading methods, since the concept of electrical value measurement readings was considered to hold a safety factor benefit when introduced and not to deplete from the energy or cirucitry variables/ values of electrical/ electronic component parts when in operation and was seen, a thermally based electrical value measurement system, was seen not that is to enter into the electrical cirucuity value or circuit itself and to provide information on material breakdown due to overheating as well as under some conditions except where environmental thermal factors play a part and the very small differences in thermal readings sometimes coupled with circuitry "invasive" methods permitting such eletrothermostat systems to alter the electrical values of electrical/eletronic circuits, may have a negative effect on some electrical circuits by misreading if a component is working or not within the entire electronic system on the basis of heat or cold factors within the environment of the part itself or perhaps different materials used in other parts of the eletrical/ eletronic system which indicate perhaps to a working part that the system does not need two cooling parts working at the time since some heat is no doubt produced as well by the cooling system device itself or due to a low temperature reading indicated in the electronic circuits due to a number of possible causes including possibly light based sensors measuring temperature of the electronic circuits which may not be enclosed in a light tight box for the electrical cirucit or which may be affected in their readings by light produced within the circuit itself or which may be turned off not detecting the heat in the electronic circuits within the electronics control panel circuit board due to expected light based interference if the system is exposed to out circuit light emissions into the light sensors sensing heat levels within the electronic circuits of the control panel. The turning off of light sensor based thermal reading sensors within the control panel's electronic sensor circuits would disenable the light sensors from detecting heat within the control panel cirucit which is stated to be suffering a problem of having only one of two coolant component systems functioning if turned off to avoid interference from light entering the control panel's internal electronics "box". I was unable to see the Shuttle lift-off. From what I heard, it was beautiful. I have two questions that I hope someone can answer either from Mission Control or from Columbia...First, when it comes to cabin pressure, is it anything like what you fell when you are in a non-stop, cross-country flight aboard a jet liner? (Or should I ask, is it less or more) and secondly, this one should be answered by the crew of the shuttle, how do you all feel when it comes to riding in the first shuttle that launched the enitre dream of going out into space? I also have a third question. (sorry about all of these) in the Western sky just above the horizon, I notice a blue-red light that is blinking. Could that be the International Space Station that I sometimes see? Please feel free to e-mail your responses to: lady_black_cat@37.com. Thank you and may our space shuttle crew have a safe time up there in space (BTW...if you fly over Texas, please wave down to me!! just kidding!!)Good luck and God Be With You.

Several years ago I drew up plans of a magnet that was just as big as a human. The sientific names of the instruments were almost the same and the same meaning. The shape of this magnet is round like a ball but flat on top. I was going to send the plans for nasa to look at,but nasa had already built the magnet so I then threw out the plans because I was a little upset that magnet was already thought of and built. So how is she doing these days. From,Garry Scott

As a (51-year old) amateur-astronomer and NASA space enthusiast (ever since the old Mercury Program), I think that HUBBLE (HST) IS FASCINATING!!! I am looking forward to a (COMPLETELY) SUCESSFULL STS-109 HUBBLE SERVICEING MISSION! The world needs HUBBLE in as MODERN and as SOPHISTICATED as it can become! I'll be monitroing the upcomming space shuttle mission with "baited breath"! I SIMPLY CAN'T WAIT!!!
