Shuster Congratulates JLG Industries of McConnellsburg on Winning Important Army Contract

Washington, DC – Congressman Bill Shuster today congratulated JLG Industries, Inc. upon learning that the company was awarded a $102.2 million contract for the purchases of 566 ATLAS II (All Terrain Lifter Army System) transports for use by the United States Army to support its missions throughout the world.

“JLG is an important employer in McConnellsburg and news of this contract will surely highlight the company’s role in providing good jobs to the people of the 9th district,” Shuster said.

The ATLAS II is designed to transport all types of materials through water, sand, mud and other rugged terrain our troops encounter.

“This new contract ensures that an important piece of Army hardware will continue to be manufactured by a company headquartered in the district.  JLG’s success will certainly show other companies that Pennsylvania’s 9th district is a good place to do business and a great place to call home,” Shuster added.

“We are very excited at JLG to have been awarded the contract to build the next-generation of ATLAS material handlers for the U.S. Army.  This award is reflective of a team truly dedicated to serving our nation’s military, and we’re ready to bring this new, improved material handle equipment to the Army fleet,” said Charlie Szews, president of JLG.  “We thank Congressman Shuster for his continued support of JLG and its employees in our efforts to build a strong, flourishing business in Pennsylvania.”
