As the owner of a 30 person service firm whose employees all have access to and utilize the internet in preforming their jobs, we lose, at a minimum, 10 minutes/employee/day in eliminating unsolicited email. That is 5 man hours per day wasted on eliminating this scourge from our computers. If one considers the countless hours that we have lost due to virises and other software problems that have entered our system through these unsolicited emails, the cost is huge. This problem has become epidemic at a time when many businesses are struggling just to survive and the cost of dealing with this plague is one that many of us can ill afford. I do not believe that anyone's right to disseminate information about their products and services should trump my right to use the internet without unsolicited intrusions. How long would people tolerate commercials inserted into their telephone calls? There need to be serious penalties for promulgating this garbage. Since the implementation of the do-not-call list, the number of unwanted calls that we recieve has declined by 90%. An anti-spam law that is any less effective would be a travisty.
