FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE UST MONDAY, MAY 1, 1995 (202) 616-2765 TDD (202) 514-1888 JAN SAMUEL OSTROVSKY NAMED UNITED STATES TRUSTEE FOR REGION 18 WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Attorney General Janet Reno has appointed Jan Samuel Ostrovsky to serve as United States Trustee to oversee the administration of bankruptcy cases in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington, which comprise Region 18. The Department of Justice said Ostrovsky assumes his duties today. His principle office will be in Seattle, Washington. Ostrovsky's career has focused on bankruptcy and commercial litigation. In 1994, he received his American Bankruptcy Institute's Business Bankruptcy Certification. After a year as a sole practitioner, Ostrovsky joined the firm of Perkins Coie in Anchorage in 1993. Prior to that he was a partner at Bogle & Gates in Seattle. From 1975 until 1986, he was in practice with law firms in Cleaveland and Anchorage. Ostrovsky graduated cum laude and received his Juris Doctor from Ohio State University in 1975. He received his bachelor's degree from Kenyon College in 1971. Ostrovsky is active in a number of professional and civic organizations. He serves as chair of the Bankruptcy Section's Legislative Subcommittee on Chapter 12 of the Alaska Bar Association, on the Asset Sales Task Force of the American Bankruptcy Institute, and on the Alaska Legal Services Pro Bono Panel.
