With
its recent accession to the World Trade Organization
and a growing economy that puts increasing demands on
its environmental resources, the Peoples' Republic of
China (PRC) has a growing need for the many environmental
products and services offered by U.S. companies. The
Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences has
estimated that some $85 billion will be needed under
the current five-year plan (2001-2005) to meet the country's
environmental goals.
For
U.S. companies looking to sell to the Chinese market,
this detailed, all-new edition of a report first published
in 1996 provides up-to-date information on the Chinese
environmental market. Ten chapters offer information
on topics such as the institutional and regulatory structures
that govern environmental protection in the PRC; the
financing programs and resources available to exporters;
and details on specific areas of environmental concern
(such as water, solid waste, and air pollution). Numerous
case studies show how companies have successfully approached
this market. Additional resources are found in the report's
six appendices, which provide dozens of in-country contacts,
detailed listings of relevant Web sites, a complete
list of Chinese development zones, and other valuable
information.
