I am vehemently opposed to any lessening of the restrictions that have been placed by the current "Do Not Call" register, including the ability for telemarketers to produce canned or recorded messages to my telephone. Based upon a newspaper article on this subject I would agree with permitting an "opt in" plan where consumers could contact a particular organization and "opt in" to receive their recorded sales pitches. I also oppose any change to the current abandonment procedures. My family pays hard-earned and scarce dollars to have telephone service for our use. Any infringement on that ability to use our telephone whenever we want is unacceptable. Currently we have relative peace from a very successful program which permits us, with few exceptions, to use our telephone service in the manner in which we desire. Please do not change any aspect of that use by lessening the restrictions placed on telemarketers in any way. Thank you for your consideration and we hope you will take the satisfaction of 64 million Americans currently happy with the "Do Not Call" register to heart.
