Border Patrol Recruits in Connecticut

contacts for this news releaseMilford, Conn. — The United States Border Patrol is holding recruiting events at the Hampton Inn in Milford, Conn. this Saturday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Border Patrol agents will be available to answer any questions and register applicants for the Border Patrol entrance exam. The Border Patrol is hiring 6,000 additional Border Patrol agents by the end of 2008. This national recruiting effort is in direct response to President Bush's May 2006 announcement to enhance border security by increasing the size of the Border Patrol. Houlton Sector Border Patrol continues to expand its recruiting and hiring efforts in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and Rhode Island with an energized advertising campaign to identify candidates wanting to Secure America’s Borders.The Houlton Sector Recruiting Office will be conducting Saturday recruiting events throughout New England until the end of September 2008, as well as attending numerous local career fairs. The Border Patrol is looking for candidates who are U.S. citizens, under 40 years of age, physically fit and able to pass a background investigation.Candidates hired for the position must complete the Border Patrol basic training academy in Artesia, N.M. as part of a two-year internship program. Initial salaries are very competitive and agents have the promotional potential to earn more than $70,000 a year after three years of service. Generous benefits and pay include federal health insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, and up to an additional 25 percent in overtime pay.
