Daylight Savings Time Changes Prompt Temporary Adjustments in Operational Hours at El Paso Area Border Crossings

contacts for this news releaseEl Paso, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection is reminding the border crossing community that the scheduled March 8 (Sunday) Daylight Savings Time clock adjustment will impact operations at some area border crossings.CBP is working with their Mexican counterparts to adjust schedules to insure continuity in services between March 9 and April 5, when Daylight Savings Time will be adopted in Mexico. The adjustments will only shift hours of operation at some locations however the existing number of hours each facility is open everyday will not be impacted.The change will not impact locations with 24-hour operations. These include passenger and pedestrian processing at multiple crossings within the El Paso port of entry (Paso Del Norte, Bridge of the Americas, and Ysleta), the Presidio port of entry, and the Columbus port of entry. The change will also have no impact on the SENTRI/Dedicated Commuter Lane at the Ysleta crossing in El Paso.The following is a port-by-port list of adjustments that will be adopted:- At the El Paso port of entry cargo lots (Ysleta and Bridge of the Americas), U.S. facilities will open one hour later and close one hour later than normal to match the existing schedules in Mexico, that will not change.
- At the Stanton SENTRI/DCL, Mexico will open and close the facility one hour earlier than normal, to match the current schedule on the U.S. side.
- There are no scheduled changes at the Presidio port of entry cargo lot. The facility will continue to be open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
- At the Fort Hancock port of entry, Mexican authorities will open one hour earlier and close one hour earlier to match the existing schedule on the U.S. side of the border.
- At the Fabens port of entry, Mexican authorities will open one hour earlier and close one hour earlier to match the existing schedule on the U.S. side of the border.
- At the Santa Teresa port of entry, U.S. facilities will open and close one hour later than normal to match the existing schedule on the Mexican side of the border. No scheduled changes at the Columbus port of entry cargo facility. The cargo facility will continue operate from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
- At the Antelope Wells port of entry, U.S. authorities will open one hour later and close one hour later than normal (9 a.m. until 5 p.m.) to match the regularly scheduled operating hours at the Mexican facility.
