Old Grey Goose International Returns to Uzbekistan

(10/02/2005)

The Old Grey Goose American folk music group from Maine returned to Uzbekistan on September 26-October 2, 2005.  The musicians had the concerts in Termez, Navoi, Bukhara and Tashkent which were a huge success.

The goal of their visit is to promote American culture and traditional American music. The group plays old-time dance tunes on a variety of acoustic instruments, and sings songs of love, work, diversity, and achievement from the vast repertoire of American folk history. Preasentations focus upon core American values and traditional cultural strengths.

The Old Grey Goose International toured Uzbekistan for the first time in 2003 as part of a cultural exchange program. This is the second tour of the American musicians, organized by the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State.

For the second time the group composed and arranged collaborative musical scores designed for the local Sogdiana Chamber Orchestra of  National Instruments. Their joint concerts at the National Conservatory of Uzbekistan and the Ilkhom Theater were a great success and established common ground in a culturally diverse world.
