I write to oppose the proposed amendment of the Telemarketing Sales Rule to create an additional call abandonment safe harbor to allow telemarketing calls that deliver a prerecorded message to consumers with whom the seller on whose behalf the calls are made has an established business relationship. The Do Not Call Registry was established to protect families and individuals from unwanted commercial messages interrupting their dinner and sleep. The proposed ammentment would eliminate this protection: I do not wish to be called by a robot any more than I wish to be called by a human.
