Jonah Interagency Mitigation and Reclamation Office Approves Third Round of Off-Site Project Applications

The Jonah Interagency Mitigation and Reclamation Office (JIO) received 29 new project applications with a request for over 20.4 million in its third round of off-site mitigation project proposals. Off-site mitigation projects are intended to mitigate impacts by Jonah Infill development.

The JIO will no longer have application deadlines for mitigation projects. Applications may be submitted at any time and will be evaluated on a first come first serve basis. To apply for mitigation funds, see the JIO Funding Application Guidelines and Project Application Form on the website: www.wy.blm.gov/jonah_office/project_aps.htm.

"We closely review the mitigation value of each project, and approve funding on a competitive level based on: funds available, goals of project, area enhanced, and partners involved," said Ted Rentmeister, JIO Project Coordinator.

A 2008 Project Table with results (www.wy.blm.gov/jonah_office/projects/2008project_results.pdf) is available on the JIO web site that provides a summary of each of the project proposals being considered.

For more information on the JIO, please call Ted Rentmeister at 307-367-5363, or visit: www.wy.blm.gov/jonah_office/project_aps.htm.
