Scott Visits Los Angeles to Promose Youth PROMISE Act - LOS ANGELES, CA - Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D-VA-03), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security of the House Judiciary Committee, is in Los Angeles, California this week to promote H.R. 1064, the Youth Prison Reduction through Opportunity Mentoring, Intervention, Support and Education, or Youth PROMISE Act. Congressman Scott and Congressman Mike Castle (R-DE-AL) introduced the Youth PROMISE Act last week with 69 original co-sponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Companion legislation (S. 435) has been introduced in the United States Senate by Senators Robert Casey (D-PA) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME). ...(more)

Castle Introduce Youth PROMISE Act - WASHINGTON, DC - On Friday, February 13, 2009, Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott (D-VA-03) and Congressman Mike Castle (R-DE-AL) re- introduced the Youth Prison Reduction through Opportunity Mentoring, Intervention, Support and Education, or Youth PROMISE Act.  The Youth PROMISE Act was re-introduced with 69 original co-sponsors in the House, 58 more than last year when introduced. Scott Supports Final Passage of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act to Create and Save Millions of Jobs - WASHINGTON, DC - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the conference report on H.R. 1, the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act.  The conference report was agreed to by a vote of 246 to 183 (Roll Call No. 70).  The Senate is expected to vote on the conference report later today before it goes on to President Obama for his signature. ...(more)

Scott to Brief Local Officials on the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act - WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Robert C. “Bobby” Scott announced today that he will host a meeting with local government officials on Tuesday, February 17th to brief them on important provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 that will directly benefit localities in Hampton Roads.  The final version of the legislation is expected to pass Congress by the end of the week and be signed into law by President Obama soon after. ...(more)
