Washington, Aug 15, 2008 -

Washington, D.C.--Iowa Congressman Tom Latham will be holding yet another one of his Action for Iowa Community Town Meetings on Monday, August 18, 2008 in Cresco.

"These have been turbulent times for Iowa families," said Latham. "On top of the recent weather disasters we are seeing gasoline prices the highest they have been in our nation’s history and basic costs of living rise at a steady pace. These meetings are another way for Iowans to directly share their concerns with me about the issues of importance to them."

The meeting, which is open to any resident of Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District, will be held at 2:00 pm at Northeast Iowa Community College located at 1020 2nd Avenue SE in Cresco.

Known as one of the most accessible elected representatives in Iowa, his series of August meetings solidify this reputation throughout the nation as he nears a milestone of 500 town meetings. In addition to the traditional meetings, Latham was one of the first Members of Congress to hold town meetings with Iowans over the telephone. The telephone meetings allow Iowans to talk with the Congressman and listen to other Iowan’s views on current issues all while from the comfort of their own home.

"I have been hired by the people of Iowa to serve as their voice and vote in the U.S. House of Representatives. These meetings have always been an important resource for me to listen to the thoughts, opinions and feedback of my bosses—the people of Iowa’s Fourth District."

Iowans needing further information regarding the meetings, or special assistance, should contact Congressman Latham’s Ames Office at 515-232-2885.
