Dulzura, Calif. - A male Mexican national wanted in Los Angeles on suspicion of homicide was apprehended in Dulzura yesterday by Border Patrol agents after he illegally entered the country.

Agents encountered the 41-year-old suspect along with four other Mexican nationals at about 12:30 p.m. after an extensive search in a rugged, mountainous area about four miles north of the international border. After determining that the individuals were illegally in the country, agents transported them to a Border Patrol station for processing and detention.

While processing the group of illegal aliens through the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System, agents discovered that the Los Angeles Police Department issued a felony homicide warrant for the suspect. The warrant was confirmed by LAPD and agents remanded the suspect to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department for further extradition to Los Angeles.

Through the enforcement efforts of highly-skilled agents and partnerships with other law enforcement agencies, the Border Patrol is better able to detect, identify, classify, respond to, and ultimately resolve all threats within the San Diego Sector area of operations.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry.
