To date, the number of unsolicited e-mails has not noticeably declined. I get about 30 to 40 a day. This law, although a good idea, is apparently totally unenforceable. I am a retired registered professional engineer. I see two things happening: 1) Spamers take over an unprotected computer and send "ghost" spam from an unsuspecting (inept) computer user. 2) When you opt-out of one list you simply magically pop up on another similar list. No one is ever held accountable. No one is fined. No one goes to jail. Spamming is still very economically rewarding (even for the obvious cons about "correcting" your credit card information), and as long as this is true the spam will never stop.
