Fermilab Golf League Outings for 2003

We will have outings on or around June 20, July 18, August 21 and our Final Outing on September 12. See also Steve Baginski's web page on our outings for this year.

Final Outing: 9:00 AM, September 12, 2003

  • When: Friday September 12, 2003, 9:00 AM (Shotgun Start: Note that this time is later than traditional!). This is the week AFTER the Sandwich Fair.

  • Teams: You get to play with your weekly League team, as always.

  • Format: Everyone will play a normal round of golf and final scores will be handicapped based on individual season averages and the course rating. There will be several individual hole contests (closest to the pin, long drive, etc.) as well as prizes for Low Gross Score and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Low Net Team Scores (this will be the average of each foursomes individual handicapped net scores). These contests are open to all participants. There will also be prizes given out based on Individual Handicapped Score (Note: only participants of the official four Fermilab golf leagues qualify for the Individual Handicapped Score prizes)
  • Cost: $50, includes greens fees, cart, contests and food.
  • Food: All-you-can-eat buffet a "House of Plenty" in Sugar Grove. Presentation of prizes, trophies, etc., to occur at this location. There will be a cash bar.
  • Deadline: Sign-up by September 5, money in by September 9.

June Outing

  • When: Friday June 20, 2003, Noon (Confirmed!)
  • Where: Wedgewood Golf Club in Plainfield.
  • Format: Best Ball and Pink Ball, four-person teams, with handicaps. The rules on the Pink Ball contest are listed here
  • Handicaps: The handicaps for everyone who could be in this outing are listed as a text file here, or as a USGA-like handicap card here. This handicap is approximately 1.5 times your nine-hole handicap in league play, adjusted to the difficulties of your home course and to Wedgewood (in the USGA-prescribed manner).   • Contests: There will be contests on every hole, with prizes of $10 or $15. You will be informed of the details of these contests at the first tee on Friday. Here is a link to the specific contests

July Outing

  • When: Friday July 18, 2003, Noon
  • Where: Pheasant Run,
  • Format: "6-6-6": Holes 1-6 are played as a scramble, 7-12 are best ball and 13-18 are alternate shot.
  • Teams: 4-person teams. Alternate shot will be the "best ball" on two 2-person teams within that.

August Outing

  • When: Thursday August 21, 2003, 1:30 PM
  • Where: Tamarack Golf Club, Naperville, IL (on rt 59.)
  • Format:Shotgun start, mostly from the back nine.
  • Teams:4-person teams
  • Handicaps: We'll be using the average of your team member's 9-hole league handicaps, adjusted for the courses involved.
  • Contests:First, second and third place scramble teams, plus nine individual hole prizes
  • Cost: $50, cart, bag drop service, locker room, etc., included
