Hi All,

Here's an announcement for a conference on a very
innovative and efficient basic literacy programme in
India:

INVITATION TO PRATHAM RESEARCH CONFERENCE

JANUARY 30-31 2004. COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS

As a friend of Pratham, you are invited to participate
in a one-day conference in which ongoing research
projects within the Pratham network will be presented,
and future directions discussed. As you are aware, in
Pratham we have a growing network of research
collaborators who are currently investigating many
different aspects of our work. While these
researchers find Pratham’s network and activity
systems to be an excellent empirical location for
their particular research questions, their findings
also help us to learn more and more about our own
processes and context. The Pratham Research Conference
in College Station, Texas in January 2004 will be a
forum for sharing what we have learned so far from the
current research initiatives as well as for
identifying and developing future research
opportunities. Participation is by invitation only.

While a more detailed invitation with a complete
agenda will follow, the purpose of this letter is to
function as a “Save the Date” message. The conference
will begin with a reception and dinner on Friday,
January 30, 2004, and end by 5:00pm on Saturday,
January 31st. Please mark your calendars and plan your
travel accordingly.

As you plan your travel to and from College Station,
please do keep in mind that the 2004 Super Bowl is
scheduled for February 1 in Houston, TX, which is one
of the airline hubs for College Station. Thus, booking
early may be a good idea, so as to avoid potentially
higher airfares and lower availability as the Super
Bowl draws near.

We look forward to seeing you in College Station!

Madhav Chavan
Director
Pratham Resource Center

Please contact Rukmini Banerji: rinkibom3@vsnl.com or
Ravi Madhavan: rmadhavan@katz.pitt.edu for further
details about the conference.
