French Hospital Federation, Paris, France

After a study of one year, the board of the French Hospital Federation (Fédération Hospitalière de France) decided on in its last meeting in December, the development of a project very close to the HTA topic. This work is being conducted with the CEDIT (a French member of the INAHTA), the UTC (Technological University of Compiègne) and aims at creating an information database collecting HTA reports from international agencies. Moreover, our project focuses only on assessments of medical devices on first step, an extension to others health product (medicine) being already projected. The general purpose of this project is: 1) To give an easy access to HTA reports for French decision-makers in hospitals; the assessment reports will be collected, translated and summarized, 2) To add specific information and analysis according to the French context (epidemiology, regulation, market, clinical trials on course; etc.), 3) To promote and disseminate HTA: a recent survey, achieved by FHF, showed that French decision-makers in hospitals lack information but don't use HTA because they merely know the existence of such an evaluation based on published clinical studies and dealing with medical, technical and economical matters, 4) To become an information portal and provide professionals in hospitals with links, references dealing with the device they study, 5) And eventually to help French decision-makers in hospitals when they decide to invest or not in a medical device, which is the very objective of HTA.
