Flexible Fuel Vehicle Availability

Flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs)—which can run on E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline), gasoline, or a mixture of both—are available in a variety of vehicle makes and models.

Flexible Fuel Vehicle Conversions

Converting a conventional gasoline vehicle to run on E85 is technically possible and the EPA has a process by which manufacturers of conversion systems can obtain a Certificate of Conformity for converted vehicles. The certification process may involve EPA testing of converted vehicles prior to issuing the certificate and certification applies only to the listed vehicles, not the conversion system by itself. Using non-certified conversions are illegal and may affect warranties. To learn more about alternative fuel vehicle conversions, go to the Conversions page.
