2004-01-15 - Terra SFE Recycling

In order to restore Terra's Direct Broadcast capability to its uncorrupted state, Terra FOT needed approval to recycle the SFE-A. The approval was given, and the recycle event was planned for 2004/015 13:42:00-14:06:00 GMT.

There was a short period of science data loss in that time while the hardware (which includes the SSR data path) was recycled. The recycle was successful, and data should have returned to normal following commands executed during the TDRSS contact. The out-of-limits telemetry points on the SFE Direct Access System channel that first alerted us to potential problems with the DB data have cleared as a result of the recycling.

The first expected DB Sites to receive data are possibly those located on the Eastern Edge of Australia and central Asia. Those locales will be in ground track night. The first ground track day locales to receive the DB stream should be Wallops, and then the University of Florida. Both sites have been contacted to expect data and report what they see (good or bad).
