If a National Do Not Email Registry is activated it should not prevent all unknown/unauthorized sender mail. It is quite likely that certain alerts and other important information will be sent by email in the future. The Net is still in a state of growth and change, do not choke it in an attempt to hand hold those unwilling to use available blocking technology. Many of the people who are complaining should not have clicked on the "free" gift, or given their main mail address to the site without additonal research. The requirement of a rapid and easy op-out method..... i e one click.... is the most needed item. Some business groups already include the ability to block their whole domain ..... this could be good for all commercial people to consider adding. People forget that they clicked on something and then complain about what shows up in their mail box. Do not punish the ethical business people by over reaction. Every one is subject to make a mistake or forget to do something that they should. Those that abuse the system should be punished. I believe that it is clear who they are. Many people want to have a business and they will make mistakes when they first start. Excessive reaction to every ignorant act will not be conductive to the growth we need in new businesses that want to use the web. Ethical business people want to do the right thing. By making them aware of a problem, we will help them have a better business and help all of us have a better web experience.
