RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Software Engineering Research Group, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge , TN

(09/2005 – present)

Projects:

  • Explored the application of semantic-based information retrieval in the biomedical research domain.

  • Ongoing project: Improve the performance of software agents on high performance computing platforms.

  • Ongoing project: Develop document clustering techniques that can handle large volume, dynamic, and incremental data sets.

  • Ongoing project: Implement realistic user mobility patterns in supporting wireless network simulators such as NS2 and GlomoSim ( in collaboration with Dr. Ali R. Hurson at PSU).

The Global Information Systems Research Lab, Penn State University

(08/2002 - 08/2005)

Projects:

  • Proposed and prototyped a mobile agent-based information retrieval system.

  • Implemented a simulator for a large-scale multidatabase integration model, the summary-schemas model, to provide a test bed for multidatabase performance evaluation.

  • Quantitatively studied the client/server-based and the mobile agent-based computation paradigms in global information retrieval system design.

  • Augmented the network simulator NS2 to support detailed WLAN simulations. This extension allows researchers to implement and evaluate power management strategies at different levels in a WLAN environment.

  • Implemented a dynamic power management (DPM) protocol library that includes commonly used protocols in DPM performance comparisons.

  • Proposed and evaluated an adaptive application-driven dynamic power management scheme.

  • Proposed a security architecture for MAMDAS.
