The NIH consists of 19 separate institutes. We are members of the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), one of the largest and most productive of the institutes. We are one of 19 research sections in the Program on Genomics of Differentiation (PGD). Our laboratory is housed in Building 6 (photo under Contact Us) on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. Collaborations, exchange of information and reagents, and technical support among our scientists are excellent. Everyone's research is fully funded by the NIH.

Melvin DePamphilis, Ph.D., is a Section Chief. His research group focuses on the problem of initiation of DNA replication in mammals, and the regulation of DNA replication and gene expression at the beginning of mammalian development.
