OF SOME PROSPECTIVE PROPOSERS
It
is to your advantage to have as many people as possible
see your RFP (Request for Proposal) and as many as possible
bid on it. To that end, we suggest the following ways of
getting the RFP out. The prospective proposers listed here
is not an inclusive list; we invite any other proposers
to contact us if they wish to be added to this list.
Industry
Associations
The solar industry associations and other industry associations
involved with energy systems is a good place to start. Notify
them and ask them to alert their members to the opportunity,
either by posting to their website, emailing their members,
or if possible providing the member contact list to you
for distribution (this may not be possible with the larger,
national organization, but you can always ask). If you give
them a sample notice, so that all that they have to do is
clip it into a letter or email that is always useful. Here
is a sample request:

The City of Tucson will be issuing an RFP for the following
solar energy services and is interested in putting together
a list of potential proposers. Responsibility has been delegated
to the Greater Tucson Coalition for Solar Energy (GTCSE)
Organizations like the (GTCSE) can be "helper resources"
to identify potential bidders (ie, sources). Please note
GTCSE is not issuing the RFP or conducting the procurement.
NO PRE-PROPOSAL IS REQUESTED. CONTACT INFORMATION ONLY AT
THIS TIME. Companies experienced, qualified and interested
in being placed on the suggested proposers list should send
their contact information (name, address, emai, phone and
point of contact) to (vajra@vecat-inc.com) indicating their
interest in receiving notification.
Below is a brief description of the intended scope of work:
The
services requested are for the design, build, operation,
maintenance and financing of Solar Pool Heaters and Solar
Domestic Hot Water Heating systems for up to five year round
heated swimming pools and related facilities at five locations
within the immediate metropolitan Tucson area. The intent
is to design and build these systems under an Independent
Energy Provider (IEP) contract. The IEP contract will provide
for payments by the Client for energy provided by the solar
heaters. Proposals that do not address this financing approach
will not be responsive to the request. The energy generated
by the solar water heating systems will be paid for by the
Client at an agreed to amount.

can find your local/ regional chapter by going to the American
Solar Energy Society ASES http://www.ases.org/
Click the “About ASES” bullet on left of
page, “ASES Chapter” right hand link located
on right of page. There is no reason why any organization
in the country (and perhaps internationally) wouldn’t
want to see the RFP, especially if the transaction is large
enough. So ask the national organization (ASES, above) to
distribute the notice as well.

Rating and Certification Corporation (SRCC), the organization
that administers the certification, rating, and labeling
program for solar collectors and a similar program for complete
solar water and swimming pool heating systems, has member
