In the Nation’s cities, 46.1 percent of the persons arrested in 2007 were under the age of 25.
Of all those arrested for violent crimes in cities, persons under the age of 25 accounted for 46.6 percent of persons arrested.
Twenty-eight percent of all persons arrested for robbery were under the age of 18; 15.5 percent of persons arrested for forcible rape were also under age 18, as were 13.9 percent of those arrested for aggravated assault, and 11.0 percent of those arrested for murder and nonnegligent manslaughter.
Persons under the age of 21 accounted for 42.4 percent of all persons arrested for weapons violations (carrying, possessing, etc.) in the Nation’s cities.
For the offense of arson, juveniles under the age of 15 comprised 31.2 percent of all persons arrested.
