CBP Border Patrol Agents Seize 1,321 Pounds Of Marijuana Checkpoint Seizure Valued At $1,056,800

contacts for this news releaseSarita, Texas – On February 25, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol agents working the Sarita Checkpoint seized 1,321 pounds of marijuana. The marijuana was concealed in a white 2004 recreational vehicle and had an estimated value of $1,056,800.At 2:00 a.m., Border Patrol agents assigned to the Sarita checkpoint, observed a recreational vehicle enter the primary inspection area. While a Border Patrol agent was conducting an immigration inspection on the occupants, a canine team conducted a search of the exterior of the vehicle. When the canine alerted to the exterior of the vehicle, agents referred the driver to secondary. A search of the vehicle revealed 1,321 pounds of marijuana. The contraband and both U.S. Citizen subjects were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control, and protection of our Nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry.
